LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD

Text: Deuteronomy 30

A LOVE FOR GOD
 A great word of exhortation was given to the children of Israel. This word was given to the people before they entered into Canaan, the Promised Land.

15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 

16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 

17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 

18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.     Deuteronomy 30:15-18

A CHOICE THAT MUST BE MADE

Moses made it very clear the choice that was before the children of Israel

  1. Life and good
  1. Death and evil

The option could not be clearer! It seems like a “no brainer” to make the right choice! 

THE DEEPER CHALLENGE

What was the deeper issue? Moses explained that the real issue was whether Israel would learn to choose to love the LORD!

  1. To love the LORD

Surely it was not hard to love the LORD after all that He had done for the children of Israel.

  1. Ramifications of choosing to love the LORD

a) To walk in His ways

b) And to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments

  1. The Results

a) That you may live and multiply

b) And the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess

Let us make the right choice! Let us choose to love the LORD our God!
