THE SONG OF MOSES

MOSES AS A SONG WRITER

Moses played many roles as a great servant of God. One of the lesser-known roles was that of a song writer. The following text is just the introduction of a long song that he wrote.

1 “Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak;
And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

2 Let my teaching drop as the rain,
My speech distill as the dew,
As raindrops on the tender herb,
And as showers on the grass.

3 For I proclaim the name of the Lord:
Ascribe greatness to our God.

4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.     Deuteronomy 32:1-4

CONTENT OF THE SONG

Moses focused on proclaiming and praising the LORD in his Song.

  1. The greatness of the LORD

a) The name of the LORD reflects His greatness

b) He is the solid Rock

c) His work is perfect

d) His ways are marked by justice

e) He is a God of truth

f) He is always righteous, just and upright

  1. An appreciation of Moses’ song

a) It is as welcome showers of rain

b) It is as fresh as dew

c) It is like life-giving water

May we treasure the LORD our God for who He is and for all that He has done for us!
