1. Heard of your faith in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:4a)

2. Your love for all the saints (Colossians 1:4b, 8)

3. Bearing fruit (Colossians 1:6b)

(II) COMPLICATIONS ALONG THE WAY

1. Danger of being deceived

“Lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words…” Colossians 2:4

a) False teachers

b) Persuasive words employed

2. Danger of being cheated

“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8

“Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.” Colossians 2:18

“Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always labouring fervently for you in prayer, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Colossians 4:12
