A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS

1. Rachel weeping for her children

2. Because they are no more

3. She would not be comforted   (Jeremiah 31:15)

4. A symbol of sorrow because the nation seemed to be totally destroyed

A GREAT PROMISE OF GOD DECLARED

1. He will be the God of all the families in Israel   (Jeremiah 31:1)

2. He will be Father to Israel   (Jeremiah 31:9)

3. He will give a New Covenant   (Jeremiah 31:31)

TREMENDOUS PRACTICAL PROMISES GIVEN

1. Grace and rest   (Jeremiah 31:2)

2. An everlasting love   (Jeremiah 31:3)

3. Rebuilding of the nation   (Jeremiah 31:4)

4. He will lead His people   (Jeremiah 31:9)

5. He will bring about redemption   (Jeremiah 31:11)

6. He will bless in abundance   (Jeremiah 31:14)

7. He offers hope for the future   (Jeremiah 31:17)

8. He offers mercy   (Jeremiah 31:20)

9. He will watch over His people To build and to plant   (Jeremiah 31:28)

10. He will offer a New Covenant   (Jeremiah 31:31)

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

1. To refrain from weeping   (Jeremiah 31:16)

2. Rejoice in the Lord   (Jeremiah 31:13)

3. Satisfaction   (Jeremiah 31:14)
