(II) THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” Hosea 4:6a

1. Deadly consequences

2. Self-Destruction

(III) REASONS FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

“…Because you have rejected knowledge…” Hosea 4:6b

“…Because you have forgotten the law of Your God…” Hosea 4:6d

“…Because they have ceased obeying the LORD.” Hosea 4:10c

“…because of their sacrifices.” Hosea 4:19b

1. Rejection of knowledge

a) Not choosing to remember

b) No effort to remember

c) Forgetting God – the result

3. Cessation of obedience

a) Disobedience ( Hosea 4:7-10 )

b) Stubbornness ( Hosea 4:16 )

“…Israel is stubborn Like a stubborn calf…” Hosea 4:16

4. Idolatry

“My people ask counsel from their wooden idols,
And their staff informs them…” Hosea 4:12

“They offer sacrifices on the mountaintops,
And burn incense on the hills, Under oaks, poplars, terebinths,
Because their shade is good…” Hosea 4:13

(IV) A CHALLENGE WE DARE NOT IGNORE

“Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7
