THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

1. In conception

a) In the womb of a woman too old to have a child (Elizabeth)

b) In the womb of a virgin (Mary)

2. In special protection

a) John … from his being conceived in his mother’s womb

b) Jesus… a miraculous virgin birth

i) Spared from inheriting the original sin that comes from Adam

ii) Protected by God from any harm

3. In sanctification

a) Kept holy for the Lord’s work

b) Specially preserved

4. In revelation

a) Of Christ’s identity to Elizabeth

b) Of God’s plan of salvation

i) Zacharias

ii) Mary

c) Simeon

i) God’s plan revealed

ii) God’s plan confirmed

THE JOY THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES

1. It is a fruit

2. A fruit of the work He does

a) Of knowledge given

b) Of comprehension obtained

c) Of faith created

d) Of faith confirmed

e) Of personal application in life

3. The fruit of joy

a) A special fruit

b) Meant to be lasting

c) Meant to be deep

d) Meant to be personal

e) Meant to affect all areas of life
