Text: Psalm 105:11-15

“HE SENT A MAN BEFORE HIM”

 

(I) THE MARVELOUS WORKS OF GOD INCLUDES A PROFOUND PLAN

1. A profound plan revealed to Abraham

a) He would give to Abraham countless descendants (Genesis 15:5)

b) He would give to his descendants the land of Canaan as an inheritance (Genesis 15:7)

c) Description of the Promised Land (Genesis 15:18-21)


2. A Dark Side Revealed

a) The descendants of Abraham will be strangers in a land that is not theirs (Genesis 15:13)

b) They will be afflicted for four hundred years (Genesis 15:13)

c) The nation that will afflict them will be judged (Genesis 15:14)

d) They will leave that land with great possessions (Genesis 15:14)

 

(II) THE FULFILMENT OF THE PROFOUND PLAN OF GOD

The following features are to be noted:-

1. The element of Time

a) Generation of Abraham

b) Generation of Isaac

c) Generation of Jacob

d) Generation of the sons of Jacob

e) Generation of Joseph


2. The element of Historical Circumstances

a) Famine in the land of Canaan

b) Finding food in Egypt


3. The element of special Divine protection

“Do not touch My anointed ones and do My prophets no harm.” Psalm 105:15


4. The element of specific Individuals as God’s special instruments

a) Joseph sold as a slave to Egypt

b) He rose to serve as the right hand man of Pharaoh

c) He provided for the children of Israel


5. In the land of Egypt

a) God’s word was fulfilled

b) The children of Israel became a multitude

c) They were enslaved

d) They would have to wait for the day of their redemption and release

 

(III) THE MARVELOUS WORKS OF GOD

1. God’s Profound Plan in Place

2. His Divine at work

3. His Purposes would be fulfilled

 

(IV) OUR CHALLENGE

1. To know God’s word better

2. To have a deeper faith in God AND His Word
