Text: Proverbs 11

Dear Parents,

TWO DISTINCT APPROACHES
As we study the Book of Proverbs, we realize that two approaches are adopted.

1. There is the Grand Scheme of Things

There is a constant emphasis that one must pay attention to cultivating a lifestyle characterized by righteousness!

2. There is also Focus on Little Details of Life

It is important that we never lose the larger picture. On the other hand, we must also never lose sight of the little details of life.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE LITTLE DETAILS OF LIFE MENTIONED?
We need to pay attention to these details. Taken together, they form the fabric of the life of righteousness. Here is a list of things that we must seek to teach our children.

1. Honesty

Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD,
But a just weight is His delight.

Proverbs 11:1

2. Humility

When pride comes, then comes shame;
But with the humble there is wisdom.

Proverbs 11:2

3. Integrity

The integrity of the upright will guide them,
But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.

Proverbs 11:3

4. Knowledge

The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbour,
But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.

Proverbs 11:9

5. Understanding (wisdom)

He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbour;
But a man of understanding holds his peace.

Proverbs 11:12

6. Faithfulness

A talebearer reveals secrets,
But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.

Proverbs 11:13

Plan to go through Proverbs 11 and make a full list of the “Little Details of Life”. Plan to teach your children these great truth-principles of life.
