Text: Proverbs 14
27 July 2003

Dear Parents,

A REMINDER TO “FEAR THE LORD”
From time to time, the theme of fearing the Lord comes back. It is good to read about this topic. It serves as an important reminder.

In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence,
And His children will have a place of refuge.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.

Proverbs 14:26-27

Four wonderful Blessings for those who fear the Lord

a) Confidence

The Lord gives to them a sense of strong confidence in Him.

b) Refuge

The Lord becomes a special refuge for all His children.

c) Life

The Lord refreshes His children like a fountain of life.

d) Escape from the snares of death

The Lord protects His children from snares that lead to death!

WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO DO NOT FEAR THE LORD?
While we do not have any specific texts that deal with the lack of the fear of the Lord, we know that those who do not fear Him will be lured to do evil. Let us look at some of the consequences who befall those who do not walk with the Lord, nor fear Him.

Do they not go astray who devise evil?

Proverbs 14:22

Those who do not fear the Lord will devise evil! They have little or no regard for God’s sense of righteousness and justice. They do not realize that the more they devise evil, the more they will go astray from God!

The crown of the wise is their riches,
But the foolishness of fools is his folly.

Proverbs 14:24

The plight of the morally foolish is the inheritance of more folly! How we must teach our children to learn how to fear the Lord always.

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
