Text: Proverbs 19
31 August 2005

Dear Parents,

THE PROBLEM OF BEING HOT-TEMPERED
There are some people who are very hot-tempered! It is not an easy task to help those who are hot-tempered.

A man of great wrath will suffer punishment;
For if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.

Proverbs 19:19

1. “A man of great wrath”

a) It is likely that he grew up with the problem of wrath not dealt with from childhood.

b) Not being corrected, he assumes that he can get his way by displaying wrath.

c) Over time, “great wrath” becomes his psyche!

2. “Will suffer punishment”

a) The wrathful invites punishment on himself.

b) If his wrath leads him to be destructive, then he will suffer the consequences of civil law.

c) His wrath m ay cause him to be shunned by society.

3. “If you rescue him”

a) By all means, every effort may be made to rescue him.

b) However, all those efforts may avail very little.

c) Till anger management is done, the anger will be his worst enemy.

4. “You will have to do it again”

You may have to make one rescue bid after another, but there is no guarantee that anything has been learned! The man of “great wrath” may not appreciate all the efforts put in!

It is always wise to chasten children when there is yet hope! Failure to chasten may well lead to this problem of “great wrath”.

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
