Dear Parents,
DO YOU SEE YOUR CHILDREN ASKING QUESTIONS ALL THE TIME?
Children are naturally inquisitive. They will ask questions all the time. Do not be upset if they raise questions! Consider this text from the Book of Proverbs.
Yes, if you cry out for discernment
And lift up your voice for understanding…Proverbs 2:3
This text well describes a young person raising questions and seeking discernment and understanding. This is something that is good and healthy. Let us encourage our children to raise questions.
ENCOURAGE THE CHILDREN TO RAISE GOOD QUESTIONS
When children raise good questions, they will indeed be able to deepen their powers of discernment. When they are genuinely interested in understanding anything, they would raise questions concerning the subject they desire to learn.
If children do not know how to raise questions, then you must teach them by using questions. If children know how to raise good questions, they would become much wiser in every sense of the word.
TREASURE HUNTING
Children are full of imagination. They are always in a world of make-belief. Consider this imagery.
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the LORD
And find the knowledge of God.Proverbs 2:4-5
Set the imagination of your children on fire. Tell them that the knowledge of God is like hidden treasures. They must be encouraged to search and find the hidden treasures of God’s Word.
When children are taught how to look at life, and the search of the knowledge of God as hidden treasure, then they will feel even more motivated to learn more about the Lord.
Children respond best when things are made to sound exciting. To merely read the Lord’s Word would seem so dull that they would not be motivated. Teach the children how to search the Scriptures with a great sense of interest and zeal, as if they were on an adventure, and they will learn to love the Word of God. The Lord would bless them with understanding and wisdom if they persevere in their efforts.
