Text: Proverbs 25
4 March 2007

Dear Parents,

THE PRESENCE OF THE WICKED IN THE WORLD
There will always be wicked people in the world. There is little point in praying that they would disappear from the face of the earth. How then should we teach our children how to face the wicked in the world?

TEACH CHILDREN HOW TO FIND MORAL STRENGTH
If there is one thing we must ever endeavour to impart to our children, it would be moral strength. It is strength that will enable them to deal with the wicked effectively. Let us learn deep lessons from the following proverb.

A righteous man who falters before the wicked
Is like a murky spring and a polluted well.

Proverbs 25:26

1. Never falter before the wicked

Let us teach our children never to falter before the onslaught of the wicked:-

a) There is no need to falter in the first place.

b) One does not need to falter when one is garbed in righteousness.

c) Uprightness makes a person very strong in the Lord.

2. If we falter before the wicked

a) We are compared to a murky spring

i) A spring is supposed to provide refreshing, life-giving water.

ii) A murky spring does no good to anyone.

b) We are compared to a polluted well

i) Like a spring, a well is meant to provide life-giving water.

ii) If a well is polluted, then it has failed to serve its original purpose.

3. Let us help our children to be strong

Let us help them find moral strength from coaching them to walk in the ways of righteousness. When one walks in righteousness, there comes courage and strength that will enable a person to remain strong and steadfast against the wicked.

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
