Text: Proverbs 25
11 March 2007

Dear Parents,

PHYSICAL NUTRITION
As parents, we remain committed to ensuring that good nutrition is given to our children. The health and strength of our children would be the joyous reward of parents.

Honey is one of the nutritious things that was eaten as a health food in ancient Israel. There is much natural goodness in honey. John the Baptiser survived well on wild honey.

SPIRITUAL NUTRITION
The following proverb deals with the issue of spiritual nutrition. Let us ponder the following text carefully.

It is not good to eat much honey;
So to seek one’s glory is not glory.

Proverbs 25:27

1. Too much honey

Anything taken in excess is counter-productive, generally speaking. While honey is a good natural source of nutrition, excessive consumption can cause the individual to have diarrhea.

2. The glory of man

a) God has already bestowed man with much glory

i) In that Man is created in God’s image.

ii) In that Man is blessed by God so that he can do more than survive in the world.

iii) God sometimes rewards the faithful with honour and glory.

b) When man seeks his own glory

i) Man can be very caught up with self-consuming thoughts of personal glory.

ii) When a person becomes obsessed with personal glory he is likened to a person who has consumed too much honey.

iii) The efforts would be counter-productive.

THE PATH OF GLORY
Glory is something that God would be more than happy to give to the righteous. Let us teach our children to walk in righteousness so that they may be truly blessed.

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
