Dear Parents,

THOSE WHO ARE IN AUTHORITY
Proverbs 29 has a number of proverbial sayings that make reference to those who are in authority.

1. When righteousness reigns

How blessed is the nation when righteousness reigns!

a) The righteous who rise to possess authority.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.

Proverbs 29:2a

b) The king who rules by justice.

The king establishes the land by justice.

Proverbs 29:4a

c) The king who administers truth.

The king who judges the poor with truth,
His throne will be established forever.

Proverbs 29:14

2. When wickedness reigns

How adversely affected is the nation when wickedness prevails!

a) Sometimes a wicked ruler emerges

… When a wicked man rules, the people groan.

Proverbs 29:2b

b) When corruption prevails

… He who receives bribes overthrows it (the city/ the nation).

Proverbs 29:4b

PRAYING FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN AUTHORITY
Let us be reminded to pray for those who are in authority.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks
be made for all men, for kings and all who are
in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
in all godliness and reverence.

1 Timothy 2:1-2

1. We are called upon to pray for all who are in authority.

2. Our prayers might well affect those who are in authority.

3. Let us pray for righteousness to prevail and good rulers to emerge.

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
