Text: Proverbs 29
22 June 2008

Dear Parents,

GREAT DIVIDES
A great divide exists between the wise and the foolish. Divides are always difficult to cross. There are many things that divide people.

1. Divide between the rich and the poor

2. Divide between the powerful and the weak

3. Divide between the righteous and the wicked

4. Divide between the wise and the foolish

A DIFFICULT DIVIDE TO BRIDGE
It is easier to cross the divide between the rich and the poor, than to bridge the divide between the wise and the foolish. The following text is interesting to study.

If a wise man contends with a foolish man,
Whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace.

Proverbs 29:9

1. Contention between a wise man and a foolish man

a) We are not told what the bone of contention is.

b) However we know that a contention exists and there is no peace.

2. Overture of the wise man

a) The wise man offers to resolve things with the foolish man.

b) Talks are started.

c) Both will present their differing points of view.

3. The negotiation process

a) The foolish man may rage while discussing.

b) He may laugh at the wise man (derisively).

All attempts will fail, because the fool cannot be reasoned with!

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
