Text: Proverbs 30
9 November 2008

Dear Parents,

A SERIES OF REMARKS ABOUT “THE NEXT GENERATION”
The present generation is always worried if not critical about the next generation. We have a series of statements (Proverbs 30:11-14) that opens with the phrase “There is a generation”.

UNDERSTANDING THESE STATEMENTS
These statements are best understood in the following ways:-

1. As astute observations

2. As words of warning

3. However these statements are not cast in stone!

THE FIRST STATEMENT
Let us ponder the first statement carefully.

There is a generation that curses its father,
And does not bless its mother.

Proverbs 30:11

1. The older generation

a) Parents are to be respected.

b) No child would contemplate cursing his parents.

2. The next (new) generation

a) The old ways are discarded.

b) Severe family tension is experienced.

c) Children talk back to their parents.

d) Worse they actually curse their parents.

e) They would be the last to bless their parents.

This danger exists for every new (subsequent) generation! We must be moved to bring up our children well and in the fear of the Lord!

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
