31 May 2009
Dear Parents,
A GREAT HOUSEHOLDER
It is certainly not wrong to be house-proud! It takes a lot of work to be a person who looks after the family well! The following text describes this remarkable lady who has done so well in being a householder!
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.Proverbs 31:21
1. “She is not afraid of (the) snow”
a) This is a reference to winter.
b) Some have reason to fear the snow (representing bitter coldness).
c) This great householder is not afraid of the snow.
i) Because she is well-prepared.
ii) Long before winter came she had done her preparation.
2. “Her household”
a) She is deeply committed to her household.
b) She proves herself as a great householder.
3. “All her household is clothed with scarlet”
a) The focus is not the colour of scarlet.
b) The emphasis here is as follows:-
i) Everyone is well-clothed.
ii) They are, in fact, beautifully clothed (scarlet).
A GREAT CHALLENGE
Let us be deeply challenged to help our children learn the ropes of what it means to care for a household! Perhaps they too would emerge as great householders too!
Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
