A SUMMARY OF THE LORD JESUS AS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST

1. He is indeed the High Priest (Hebrews 8:1)

2. His position
He is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven (Hebrews 8:1)

3. His ministry

a) He is a Minister of the sanctuary (Hebrews 8:2)
(A very humble word for the word “minister” was used (Greek: “leitourgos”)
b) A Minister of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected and not man (Hebrews 8:2)

4. A more excellent ministry (Hebrews 8:6a)

5. A Mediator of a better covenant (Hebrews 8:6b)

6. The New Covenant was established on better promises (Hebrews 8:6c)

A REVIEW OF THE AARONIC PRIESTHOOD

1. Every priest is appointed to offer:

a) Gifts
b) Sacrifices (Hebrews 8:3)
c) This was noted in Hebrews 5:1-3

2. The priests offer the gifts according to the law (Hebrews 8:4)

a) The law of Moses
b) Recorded in the Book of Leviticus

3. The earthly system

a) A copy
b) And shadow of the heavenly things (Hebrews 8:5)

4. The tabernacle that Moses erected

a) The plans were given by the LORD
b) Moses was instructed to follow the details given (Hebrews 8:5)
