TIME: WITH THE DAY OF THE LORD’S RETURN IN MIND

1. And do this, knowing the time (Romans 13:11a)

a) The use of the word “time”
b) May be translated “season”
c) A time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3)
d) The Day of the Lord (Zephaniah 1-2)

2. That now it is high time to awake out of sleep (Romans 13:11b)

a) Sleep
i) Not rest
ii) But stupor Cf. Isaiah 29:9-10
b) Time to awake
i) Much to be attempted
ii) Much to be accomplished for the Lord

3. For now, our salvation is nearer than we first believed (Romans 13:11c)

a) Salvation
i) Commencement
ii) Conclusion
iii) The latter part is in mind
b) Saved… ultimately
i) Home in heaven
ii) The Lord’s return
iii) Death
c) Nearer
i) Time moves on
ii) Each year… salvation (conclusion) draws ever nearer
