THE CONVERSATION OF THE TWO DISCIPLES ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS
1. The content of their conversation – Jesus
The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth…
Luke 24:19
a. Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all people
b. Condemned and crucified
c. Hoping He would be a physical king in redeeming Israel
2. The way they were conversing
a. Conversing with one another (Luke 24:14)
b. Converse and reasoning / discussing by examining together (Luke 24:15)
c. Conversing by exchanging of word — To throw in discussions (Luke 24:17)
3. The result of their conversations
a. Gloomy and sad (Luke 24:17)
b. No joy
THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE LORD JESUS AND THE TWO DISCIPLES
1. The Lord’s work
a. The Lord seeking to abide with them (Luke 24:15)
b. The Lord rebuking the two disciples (Luke 24:25)
i. “0 foolish ones…”
ii. “Slow of heart to believe…”
c. The Lord expounding the Scriptures concerning Himself
i. From Moses and all the prophets (Luke 24:27)

THE ENLIGHTENMENT THAT CAME TO THE TWO DISCIPLES
1. Knowing Jesus through the breaking of bread – A special thing that Jesus did with them
a. “Their eyes were opened” Luke 24:31
b. “They knew Him” Luke 24:31
2. Setting of “hearts on fire” within them (Luke 24:32)
3. Recognising and declaring the resurrection of Jesus
a. “The Lord is risen” Luke 24:34 b. “Appeared to Simon” Luke 24:34
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER
I. What are our conversations like?
2. Are we slow of hurt in believing scriptural truths?
3. Do we take the time to relearn truths?
4. Are we interpreting “things” from the standpoint of Christ and the Scriptures?
