God Speaking to Us

GOD SPEAKING TO US

1. God has always sought to speak to mankind

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past…        Hebrews 1:1

2. God speaks through His creation

a) Through His creation

b) Many have not appreciated or comprehended God                  Psalm 14:1-3

c) Many have not appreciated the invisible attributes of God           Romans 1:19-23

3. God has always sought to speak to His people by the prophets              Hebrews 1:1

I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking,

                But you did not hear, and I called you, but you did not answer…                Jeremiah 7:13

                For I earnestly exhorted your fathers in the day I brought them up out of the land of Egypt,

                Until this day, rising early ad exhorting, saying, “Obey My voice.”             Jeremiah 11:7

                I have also sent to you all My servants, the prophets, rising up early and sending them…

                                                                                                                                                                Jeremiah 35:15

4. God has especially spoke to us by His Son            Hebrews 1:2

a) This is My beloved son, in whom I am well-pleased           Matthew 3:17

b) The Unique Sonship of the Lord Jesus

i) You are My Son, today I have begotten You                     Hebrews 1:5

ii) I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son Hebrews 1:5

iii) And to the Son He says,
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever                                 Hebrews 1:8

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE NEEDED

1. Dangers highlighted

a) Ignorance of the fact that God is speaking to us

b) Danger of drifting away                Hebrews 2:1

c) Neglect of so great a salvation               Hebrews 2:2

2. Giving more earnest heed              Hebrews 2:1

a) To the Lord Jesus

i) God bearing witness

ii) Through signs and wonders and various miracles             Hebrews 2:4

b) To the Word of the Lord

i) Spoken by the Lord Jesus                Hebrews 2:3

ii) Confirmed by those who heard Him                  Hebrews 2:3

BIBLE MEMORY WORK

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets have in these last days spoken to us by His son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the worlds.
