YOUTH CONFERENCE 2017
3-7 December
Theme: “The Same Spirit of Faith”
THURSDAY 7 DECEMBER 2017
WE WALK BY FAITH
1. The Christian Walk
- “Walk” means “live”
- Walk – in Paul’s epistles
i) Love
“Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us
And given Himself for us” Ephesians 5:1
ii) Light
“Walk as children of light” Ephesians 5:8
iii) Circumspectly (carefully)
“See then that you walk circumspectly,
Not as fools but as wise” Ephesians 5:15
iv) Wisdom
“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside” Colossians 4:5
2. Not by sight
- Human wisdom
- Worldly ideas
- Personal idiosyncrasies 1 Corinthians 2:1-6
3. By faith
- The spirit of faith- Possible significant features to look out for!
- These features of faith were certainly found in the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul!
i) A new creation
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
He is a new creation;
Old things have passed away;
Behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
ii) Transformation
“Transformed into the same image
From glory to glory” 2 Corinthians 3:18
iii) Power from God
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
That the excellence of the power may be of God
And not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7
iv) Life of the Lord Jesus
“That the life of Jesus also may be
Manifested in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:10
v) Ambassadors for Christ
“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ,
As though God were pleading through us” 2 Corinthians 5:20
vi) Servants of God
“But in all things we commend ourselves
As ministers of God” 2 Corinthians 6:4
(Serving God in so many varied ways!
2 Corinthians 6:4-10)
vii) Sufficient ministers of the new covenant
“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves…
But our sufficiency is from God,
Who also made us sufficient as ministers
Of the new covenant, not of the letter
But of the Spirit;
For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3:5-6
CONSECRATION
AND SINCE WE HAVE THE SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH, ACCORDING TO WHAT IS WRITTEN,
“I BELIEVED AND THEREFORE I SPOKE,”
WE ALSO BELIEVE AND THEREFORE SPEAK. 2 Corinthians 4:13
1. Can we speak of having the same spirit of faith?
2. Can we speak for the Lord with great confidence and courage?
3. Can we consecrate ourselves to live and serve as faithful servants of God?
