THE CHALLENGE OF BULDING A HOUSE

1. God as the Master Builder

a) God’s word to David
“The LORD tells you that He will make you a house” (2 Samuel 7:11)
b) God’s involvement in building a house
“Except the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain who build it” (Psalm 127:1)

2. The teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ
(Matthew 7:24-27)

a) The wise man
b) The foolish man
c) The foundations
i) Rock
ii) Sand
d) The sayings of Jesus

WHAT IS NEEDED TO HAVE AN ESTABLISHED HOUSE?

1. The Involvement of the Lord
(Psalm 127)

a) His hand of blessing
b) His power
c) His protection
d) His provision

2. Our Part in the building of a house

a) Wisdom is obviously needed
b) The call to search for wisdom
(Proverbs 1-9)
c) Many vital lessons to learn
d) Outstanding lessons
i) Related to knowledge/ instruction given
ii) Related to life
iii) Related to friends
iv) Related to tough times in life
v) Related to chastening

3. Having a clear concept of building a house of faith

a) Checking Plans for the house
b) Checking the Foundations
c) Checking to make sure that we do not lose focus
d) Checking the effort put in
e) Checking our lifestyle
f) Checking for faults/ errors/ mistakes

AN HONEST CHECK

1. Don’t hide from the truth

2. Face reality

3. No false hopes

3. More dependent on the Lord and His grace and wisdom
