THEME: “CONDUCT”
THE EMPHASIS ON “CONDUCT”
1. It is mentioned a number of times
a) Be holy in your conduct (1 Peter 1:15)
b) Conduct yourself… in fear (reverence) (1 Peter 1:17)
c) Conduct has to be consistent… throughout (1 Peter 1:17)
d) Conduct has to be honourable (1 Peter 2:12)
e) Chaste conduct (of wives) (1 Peter 3:2)
2. Practical Features of our Christian Conduct taught
a) These features were highlighted
b) They had to be emphasised
3. How may we plan our Conduct?
a) Mental preparation
Gird up the loins of your mind (1 Peter 1:13a)
b) Sobriety (Mindset)
Be sober (1 Peter 1:13b)
c) Spiritual aspect
Rest your hope fully (1 Peter 1:13c)
d) As obedient children (1 Peter 1:14a)
4. Rejection of the conduct of the world
a) Not conforming, as in the past, to the former lusts (1 Peter 1:14b)
b) No aimless conduct (1 Peter 1:18)
c) Abstain from fleshly lusts that war against the soul (1 Peter 2:11)
5. Reasons for having a distinctive Conduct in the world
a) We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:19)
b) We have faith and hope in the Lord (1 Peter 1:21)
c) Our souls have been purified in obeying the truth (1 Peter 2:22a)

a) They may sap our joy

a) Some may mock
b) Others may oppose strongly
c) Still others would cause harm
3. Temptations from the world
a) The old way of life
b) The weakness of the flesh
