2. Reading the Scriptures on your own

a) How to read correctly

b) How to interpret properly

c) How to apply it meaningfully

3. Our problems and challenges in the reading of the Scriptures

a) We don’t read much of it

b) We can’t make sense out of it easily

c) We are unsure about how it is relevant to our life today

B. Understanding Life through the Lenses of the Scriptures

1. Appreciation why the Scriptures were written

a) Examples

i) Bad Examples were recorded too
To teach us how to avoid mistakes 1 Corinthians 10:6

ii) Good Examples/ Testimonies
To inspire us to have the same precious faith Hebrews 11:1-2

iii) Recorded in the Scriptures for our Instruction

iv) Recorded for our Inspiration

b) Possible Effect of the Scriptures

i) Converts/ Changes the soul Psalm 19:7a

ii) Makes one wise Psalm 19:7b

2. But it is not confined to 1 Samuel 16

3. This is a truth we want to:

b) Discover the depth of its application

c) Develop an approach to life that has this truth factored in!
