YOUTH WORSHIP SERVICE 12 October 2024

Title: “Everyone came whose heart was stirred”

Text: Exodus 35:1-10, 20-29, 36:1-7

INTRODUCTION

1. Review of Exodus 32-34

a. God relented from consuming Israel despite their worship of the golden calf Exodus 32
b. God promised His continued Presence with Israel Exodus 33
c. God renewed His Covenant with Israel Exodus 34

2. The commandments of God given Exodus 35:1

a. The Sabbath Exodus 35:2-3
i. To set aside a holy day of rest to the LORD
ii. To make time to be with Him
iii. To practise and cultivate holiness on the Sabbath
b. The building of the Tabernacle Exodus 35:4-10
i. For those of a willing heart to give towards the building materials
ii. For gifted artisans to come forth and be involved in the building process

3. Remembering the significance of the Tabernacle

a. It would be a Sanctuary for God to dwell among the people
Exodus 25:8
b. It would be made according to God’s pattern Exodus 25:9
c. It would reflect the glory of God

THE STIRRING OF HEARTS TO GIVE TOWARDS THE BUILDING WORK

1. The children of Israel

a. They had truly come to experience the great mercies of God
b. They had now heard the commandments of God
c. How would they respond?

2. Everyone came Exodus 35:20-21

a. Whose heart was stirred
b. Whose spirit was willing
c. They brought the LORD’s offering for the work
i. All gave according to their ability and resources
ii. Each one contributed to the work in their own way

3. The different groups of people who came Exodus 35:22-28

a. Men
b. Women
c. Gifted artisans
d. Rulers (leaders)

THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE WORK

1. Leaders appointed for the work Exodus 35:30-35

a. Bezalel, filled with the Spirit of God
i. In wisdom and understanding
ii. In knowledge and all manner of workmanship
iii. The ability to teach
b. Aholiab to support Bezalel
c. They too would devote their gifts for the LORD’s work

2. A continued stirring of the heart

a. The children of Israel began to bring freewill offerings
to the LORD Exodus 35:29
b. They gave beyond what was commanded of them
c. The people continued to bring freewill offerings
every morning Exodus 36:3
d. A wonderful “problem” that resulted Exodus 36:4-7
i. The people brought more than enough material to do the work that God commanded
ii. Any continued giving would potentially hinder the building work
iii. The craftsmen had to speak to Moses who commanded the people to stop

IMPORTANT LESSONS FOR US ALL

1. God stirs up the hearts of His people for His work

a. As we experience His great mercies in our lives

b. As we listen to His Word

2. The people whom God will stir up and use for His work

a. Anyone
b. Those whom He has blessed with gifts

3. How we ought to respond when God stirs the heart for His work

a. To be moved to action
b. To give of our resources and ourselves
c. To continue willingly and joyfully
