A Season Of Joy

Looking for those seasons of joy
In life, we recognize that it is not easy to find joy. We are often plagued by work and bogged down with the challenges of life, which makes it hard for us to be joyful…much less to sustain our joy.
Special seasons of joy have been designed for us to enter into. These seasons can bring an uplift to our hearts and our spirits as we celebrate the Lord’s goodness, and encourage us on our journey of faith and ministry in the next year. A season of joy is meant for our encouragement to rejoice.
As we look forward to Bethany’s 40 + 1 Anniversary, we look forward to a joyful time in celebrating this occasion. We should never grow weary or tired of celebrating our anniversaries. But we should rejoice during these special seasons. What are the kinds of joy that we can anticipate?
1. The joy of the occasion
The occasion of an anniversary always brings a special sense of joy. It is an important milestone in the history of Bethany. This time, we celebrate the first year of the next 40 years. It is a significant occasion for the next generation and for us to rejoice.
2. The joy of people
Joy is created when we meet together as the people of the Lord. Like a family coming together to celebrate, there is no greater joy that being with the Lord’s people. As fellow brethren and fellow servants of the Lord, there is much that we can share in rejoicing together. We also rejoice for this great opportunity to reach out to the many who have been invited.
3. The joy of worship
“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.” (Psalm 95:1) Our greatest joy should come from worshipping the Lord. We look forward to singing and to shout joyfully to the Lord who has been our Rock. We come before the presence of the Lord and give Him thanks. There is much joy in giving worship to our great God at this special anniversary.
The blessing of joy
Joy is something we see as from the Lord. The joy that the Lord gives is spiritually given. He is the source of our joy. This is the kind of joy that we want to fill our hearts with. King David wrote of how the Lord blesses us with joy, “You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased.” (Psalm 4:7) When we have joy and gladness, it is the Lord who put it there. Our joy would be greater than a great harvest season. Let us thank God for the joy that we are blessed with…to praise our God who has put joy and gladness into our hearts on this season of our anniversary.
