Appreciating Our Heavenly Father

Thanking God for all fathers

I wish all fathers a Blessed and Happy Father’s Day!

We thank God for all fathers who give so much of themselves to love and provide for the needs of their children. They are to be especially remembered and honoured for all they have done for the family’s sake. But no one is as deserving of our thanksgiving and praise as our heavenly Father.

Being mindful of God as our Father

Over the years, the blessings God has showered upon our lives are manifold and bountiful. They should be specially thought of and not forgotten. It is a joy to dwell on who the Lord is and all the works that He has done. He has been personally involved in our lives through good and bad times. We should never in any way take Him for granted.

Let us behold God as our special and incomparable heavenly Father. He is distinct and unique in all His ways. His understanding and ways are so much higher than man’s ways. Taking time to meditate on the Lord helps us to appreciate and treasure Him far more deeply. As I learnt to be mindful of our heavenly Father, I was greatly moved to write this poem as my deep appreciation of Him.

Our Incomparable Heavenly Father

Greatly blessed are we to have God as our heavenly Father
Of all in the heavens and on the earth, He is like no other
In terms of attributes and works, God is truly the greatest
No one else can match His glory that shines the brightest

Our Father mercifully bought us as our wonderful Redeemer
Remembering how He had fearfully made us as our Creator
God wisely and mightily establishes us through His power
His presence will patiently be there for us no matter the hour

The great love our dear Father bestows on us is forever
He will never forsake us in any circumstance whatsoever
His manner of love displayed is precious and profound
We stand in awe of His amazing love, which truly astounds

It is an absolute marvel to think of the Lord God as eternal
Yet He is the quintessential Father who is truly exceptional
He seeks to draw near and commune with us intimately and lovingly
His sovereign hand leads and guides us most discerningly

Whatever we lack or need in life, in our Father, can be found
His love and blessings for His children know no bounds
Our hearts must respond with gratitude as we are moved deeply
This Father’s Day and always, to love Him more devotedly
