Reflecting over this Easter
Celebrating Easter this year was indeed most significant. There are so many blessings for us to rejoice in. We thank God for the resurrection of the Lord Jesus who gave to us the victory over death. There is great hope for all of us in our life.
We also witnessed the commissioning of Student-Pastors Ben Chong and Ben Quah. It was great to see these two young men offering their lives to serve the Lord in the full time ministry They were willing to leave their jobs, to be specially set apart for the Lord to use. This augurs well for the future generation of Bethany as they will be trained to continue the work here in Bethany.
The song item “Behold My Servant” was indeed moving. The words were indeed inspiring and the Combined Choir sang it so well. I was deeply encouraged by the song to appreciate the Lord Jesus as the Servant of the Lord, and to be challenged by His example to be His servant too.
The power of the resurrection in our lives
During this Easter, I was also thinking about how the power of the resurrection is not something that is only learned as a concept but is also meant to be applied into our life. The Apostle Paul prayed for this power to be given to the Ephesians in his epistle to them.
1. The exceeding greatness of God’s power applied in our life
“And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe,” (Eph 1:19)
God’s power is indeed exceedingly great. As One who had created the world and continues to sustain it, His power is truly majestic and awesome. It is immeasurable and amazingly profound.
Yet this extremely great power can be applied into lives. Our lives can truly be filled with power if we have faith in the Lord. All those who were great heroes of the past were able to become great conquerors because of their faith in the Lord. Let’s be challenged to have that kind of faith that is able to apply the exceedingly great power of God into our life.
2. The resurrection power of God working in our lives
“According to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,” (Eph 1:20)
The word “according to” is the word ‘kata” in Greek. It reflects a certain kind of pattern. The power that Paul was speaking of was according to a certain pattern of power.
The word “working” and “worked” basically mean “energy”. This energy is the resurrection energy that raised Jesus from the dead. This same pattern of energy can be applied into our lives. This powerful energy of God can fill our lives and make us come alive. Our lives can be full of power. Let’s be challenged to be empowered with the resurrection energy of God.
Praying to be filled the resurrection power of God
It takes prayer for us to be filled with power. As we pray for the Spirit of God to give us wisdom and enlightenment, we would understand the hope of our calling and begin to be filled with the exceedingly power of God. Let’s be challenged to pray for the filling of the resurrection power of God in our lives.
