Looking ahead to the Youth Conference 2017

This Sunday, we will be commencing our Youth Conference. We have not been able to hold this special event for our youths in the past two years due to the building of Bethany IV. But now they can look forward to a wonderful week of worship, fellowship and the study of the Lord’s Word. The theme for this year’s Youth Conference is “The same spirit of faith”. This has also been our theme for the YAG for this year. We started 2017 learning about the same spirit of faith before applying our understanding to the context of the Epistle to the Philippians. What were some of the lessons learnt concerning the same spirit of faith?

The same spirit of faith

“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,” (2 Corinth 4:13)

a. It has to do with a special kind of faith

1. Faith should be seen as content…as to what we believe in
2. There should be obedience to the faith (Rom 1:5)
3. Those who are truly just and righteous will live by this faith (Rom 1:17)
4. There are definite steps of faith that we should follow (Rom 4:12)

b. It is to do with the spirit of faith

1. It is not a matter of possessing a mental knowledge of faith
2. We need to understand the spirit of faith
3. Our source of understanding comes from the Scriptures such as Ps 116
4. The spirit of faith is reflected in this psalm for instance having a deep response of love for the Lord when we are delivered from death (Ps 116:1)

c. It has to do with the same spirit of faith

1. This was the spirit of those in the Old Testament
2. Paul had the same spirit of faith
3. It was the same spirit of faith that the believers had
4. We can also have the same spirit of faith

Let us be challenged to continue to learn about this same spirit of faith.

Coming for the evening messages

In the evening messages, Pastor will be going deeper in our study of this theme concerning “The same spirit of faith”. Let us be encouraged to consider coming and to listen to the Word of God so that we can go deeper in our understanding of this same spirit of faith.  Let us come and worship and be blessed by the teaching of the Scriptures.

Praying for the Youth conference

As the Youth Conference approaches, let us be in the spirit of prayer as Paul consistently was, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,” (Phil 1:3) Let us give thanks that we are holding the Youth Conference once again. Let us pray for Pastor and for those who will be teaching the Lord’s Word…for wisdom and strength to be given to them to teach. Let us pray that the Word of God would fall on good ground. Let us pray that this Youth Conference would touch many hearts of our young people and that they may be able to cultivate their faith and to catch this same spirit of faith.
