What I Love About Bethany (III)

All glory to God
In a few days, we will be celebrating Bethany’s 50th Anniversary. We have been preparing, with great anticipation, for this day for many months, and the time has finally come for us to praise and worship our great God. What is one more thing that I love about Bethany?
As a church, we seek to give glory to God for all we are and have. While we look back and reflect on how Bethany has developed from Bethany I to Bethany IV…to what we are today, our focus has always been on God. It is God and God alone who deserves all the glory and praise.
As we worship the Lord on Sunday, all we seek to do is meant to give Him glory. Our joyful worship, heartfelt singing of the choir, the vibrant playing of the orchestra, the study of the Lord’s Word, the offering of love gifts, and our thanksgiving fellowship are all meant to give glory and honour to God our Father and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Giving glory to God and the Lord Jesus
1. Our blessed lives are meant to give glory to the Lord
- As a church, we have been greatly blessed with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3).
- We are privileged to be chosen and predestined to be adopted as sons.
- Through the Lord’s salvation and sacrifice, we are enriched by the abundance of His grace and so much more.
- With God’s blessings, we have sought to live our lives in praise of the glory of the Lord and His wondrous grace (Ephesians 1:6).
2. Giving glory to God for His mighty works in our midst
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20,21)
- Pastor mentioned that when we first started Bethany, he had a vision of what Bethany would be like spiritually.
- But he never considered how God would develop Bethany through His power to what it is today.
- God has indeed done exceedingly abundantly above what we have asked or thought.
- Our response must be to give glory to God for His amazing work in our midst.
3. Our love gifts are meant for the glory of the Lord
“And not only that, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this gift, which is administered by us to the glory of the Lord Himself…” (2 Corinthians 8:19)
- Paul’s ministry included occasional relief work.
- With his team, Paul would travel with a gift to help those in need.
- It is through such gifts that brought glory to God.
- We thank God for His provision, for many who have given so sacrificially over the years.
- These gifts have been given with the purpose of giving glory to the Lord.
Giving joyful glory
I love how Bethany has always sought to give glory to our Almighty Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. With hearts full of joy and thanksgiving, let us offer our utmost praise and worship to God this Sunday. Wishing everyone a glorious and blessed 50th Anniversary!
