In His Time

This photo was taken during spring in Japan in 2011.

It was my first time experiencing the four seasons and spring was my favourite. It was quite a sight to see Shinjuku Garden in Tokyo littered with sakura (cherry blossom) petals.

Spring is my favourite season because the flowers are in full bloom and it’s breathtaking to stand in a park and admire God’s handiwork.

Spring is also my favourite because when I look down and see the fallen petals from the sakura trees, it reminds me ofEcclesiastes 3:1,

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven”

Typically, sakura trees bloom and wither in spring. But there was once an experiment done to trick a sakura tree into blooming in summer. The tree was first trimmed of all its leaves to simulate autumn and then blown at with air-conditioner to mimic winter. The result was the blooming of one flower instead of the whole tree.

I thought this was a good reminder that no can could hasten the change of season and in its own time, when spring comes, everything becomes beautiful.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 reads,

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

It brings great hope to my heart to know that God has a plan, a beautiful plan for everything that He created. And that this plan will be fulfilled at the best timing possible! I am so glad to be included in this promise!

Earlier this month, I graduated from university. While it is exciting to be starting this new phase in my life, it is also very scary. People say the economy is bad, and I’m a little intimidated by the uncertainty of my future as I search for a job.

But knowing that God has a perfect plan that He will execute at His perfect timing makes this uncertainty go away! The process of waiting can be difficult, but looking forward to the day that God will fulfill His plan for me is exciting and gives me great hope!
