What Is Man That You Are Mindful Of Him
I am Year 3 in university this academic year, and for my second semester (January till April), I went on an exchange to Canada. Oh how different the two countries are.
You don’t get to see the vast expanse of the sky very much in Singapore, because of the many high rise buildings around. Even if you go to the coastal areas, the panoramic field of vision is still quite small, flanked by the nearby islands. But not so in Canada.
This picture was taken in Algonquin Provincial Park, in Ontario, Canada. Algonquin Provincial Park is a park that is the size of about 7,653km2. To put that into perspective, Singapore is only about 719km2. On clear days, the beautiful blue hue that dyes the sky is astounding. On clear nights, especially, the stars that dot the sky are amazing. The sky is really vast.
Psalm 8:3-5:
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
As I take some time to think about how small I really am in all of God’s creation, there is only amazement and awe; amazement and awe because even though I am just a speck in the universe, God chooses to relate and to love me. Most importantly, He chose to give His Son for us, that we might be saved from our sins. My only response is to love Him in return and to have the faith and relationship with Him that He desires us to have.
May this be a reminder of how great our God is.
