Text: Daniel 12:1-3
Dear Young People,
THE ISSUE OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD
Daniel was given a special word of instruction concerning the distant future. One day, there will be an event called “The Resurrection of the Dead”. That event is also sometimes called, “Judgment Day”.
“And many of those who sleep in the dust (ref. to the dead)
shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame
and everlasting contempt.”
Daniel 12:2
Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? Will we find ourselves awaking to “everlasting life” or will we find ourselves waking up “everlasting contempt”?
JESUS TAUGHT THE SAME TRUTH
Was Daniel correct in writing as he did? The answer is found in a word given by Jesus.
“Do not marvel at this;
For the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves
Will hear His voice and come forth-
Those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,
And those who have done evil
To the resurrection of condemnation.”
John 5:28-29
Jesus believed in the Day of Judgment too. Added power is found in this knowledge that all must stand before God one day! Where would you spend eternity?
A CHALLENGE TO LIVE WISELY
This truth that we have just read should impact the way we live! Daniel wrote a special word to challenge all to live circumspectly.
“Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.”
Daniel 12:3
Let us live as people who have obtained wisdom from the Lord! Let us seek to “turn many to righteousness”. Let us seek to share with our friends our faith and our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us spare no effort to turn people away from sin and Satan to God and His kingdom of righteousness. We would shine as stars before God then.
