Bethany’s Sunset Delight

BETHANY’S SUNSET DELIGHT
You do not need to go very far to see a beautiful sunset. In fact this picture was taken from the third storey of our beloved Church, Bethany (I think the view from the top of a 12 story building would even be more spectacular…Bethany 4). I was coming out of the Church office and could not resist the photographic impulse to take this shot when I saw this stunning sight of varying tones of orange and yellow. Again, I stood in awe of another one of God’s magnificent handiwork. The evening seemed like it was rejoicing with delight. This reminded me of a verse from the text of Psalm 65:8b
“You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice…”
The Lord God was the artist behind this picturesque evening scene. He is the One who has been making all the mornings and evenings come alive with joy. Only the Lord can bring about such refreshing exuberance and joy to a daily event since the beginning of time. It is this same power that God displays in stilling a turbulent sea and calming the hearts of those in tumult (Psalm 65:7). It is also this great God who provides water that is needed for the earth to bring forth food (Psalm 65:9-10). Truly, we want to thank God for His wonderful provisions and blessings.
BLESSED IS THE MAN YOU CHOOSE
“Blessed is the man You choose and cause to approach You that he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your courts.” – Psalm 65:4
The Lord God will also specially bless the servant of God whom He chooses to draw near to Him. He would be able to dwell in His courts with favour. The Lord would shower that person with His goodness. Moses was such a person whom God allowed to draw near to Him (Exo. 24:17). What a great privilege! Another person would be David himself. David had cultivated a close relationship with the Lord God and He sought to draw near Him in His courts. These “courts” would be a reference to God and His presence because there were no physical temple building during this time. Those who dwell with Him would experience and be satisfied with His great goodness. The Lord would hear and answer our prayers. He will provide all that we need…including the Church building for Bethany 4. The Lord would specially bless the years ahead. Let’s have absolute confidence in the Lord and His provision. Let’s seek to draw near to Him and to trust in His blessings as we continue in 2014.
