“Let Us Walk In The Light Of The LORD”

This is our biggest Family Camp ever.   It brought a special sense of joy to see so many people at our camp, seeking to hear God’s voice and to understand further how they can walk in the light of the Lord. There were 30 campers from Bethel IPC, the biggest contingent to our Church Family Camp. The whole camp was truly a moving time of listening the testimonies of our brethren. Of course, most of all, there were the soul-searching messages from Pastor Charles about seeking cleansing at different levels from the book of Isaiah and learning from the not so good examples of the Kings during the prolific and profound ministry of the prophet Isaiah.   The children were also ministered to through a con-current programme where they learnt about walking in the light.   Overall, the Lord spoke to many of us. Our hearts were impacted. Our challenge was to respond with faith by seeking to walk in the light.

“THE LORD OF HOSTS, HIM YOU SHALL HALLOW…”

There were many lessons taught by Pastor Charles. Let me highlight two lessons

  1. Courage that is word centred

For the Lord spoke to me with a strong hand and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people…” Isa. 8:11

In order to walk in the light of the Lord, the prophet Isaiah must seek to have the courage to follow His will.   The Lord’s strong hand had to come upon Isaiah and commanded him to not compromise by walking in the way of the people.   He needed courage to fully obey the Lord.  It was never about having selective obedience.   The challenge was to have the faith to have an uncompromising walk in the Lord

  1. Centrality of God

The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow, let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread. He will be a sanctuary, but a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel…” Isa. 8:13

Another important lesson was placing the Lord of hosts as the centre of our life and ministry.   Isaiah was not to be afraid of the threats of the people nor be troubled. He was to fear the Lord of Hosts above all others.   The Lord was meant to be his “Sanctum Sanctorium”.   We should learn to make God our centre. We will seek to cultivate and practise the fear of the Lord till He is truly central. When we make the Lord our centre and our dread, He will be our sanctuary. He will be our dwelling place. On the other hand, those who do not, the Lord will be a stumbling block for them.   They will stumble over Him. Young people, let’s make the Lord our centre in everything that we do.
