The Christian Way of Living

The recent YPG outing to the Sports Hub was truly blessed by the Lord. We want to give thanks to the Lord for His grace in making it a success. Everything turned out well and the young people really enjoyed themselves. What was special was the way we sought to play the games. There was a sense of bond and oneness among us as we went from one game station to another. We thank God for this. Our challenge is to make this as part of our Christian way of living.
The apostle Peter challenged the brethren to do the following.
Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous…” 1 Peter 3:8
All these characteristics are meant to be seen as a cluster. The Christians who were persecuted then were meant to practise them together. They were meant to have a heart that was compassionate towards the needy and sought to show brotherly love towards each other. They were to be tenderhearted and be kind and polite to all. Let’s learn to follow the Christian way of loving each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.
THE LORD’S CALLING TO WALK IN HIS WAY
Not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this that you may inherit a blessing…” 1 Peter 3:9
The Lord Jesus had set an example for us concerning how we should live. Peter had written earlier of how Christ had suffered for us and has given us an example that we should follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:22). Even though He was reviled, He did not revile in return. Even though He suffered, He did not threaten in return. This was the Lord’s faith and way of responding. Our challenge is to follow His example by not retaliating when people do evil to us and revile us. This is our calling too. We should respond as the Lord Jesus did. This is the Christian response to the challenges of life. We will learn to bless even our enemies. Our hope is that the Lord will grant us a blessing. This is the Lord’s calling for us that we should walk in His footsteps. Let’s truly seek to respond to the challenges of life by walking in His way.
