THE CREATOR OF THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
This was a picture I took of the Grand Canyon at twilight quite a number of years ago. It was a most picturesque scene, beholding the colour of the Grand Canyon transform from its inherent brown to magical light pink. As I stood in the dropping temperature in the evening, I was amazed by the beauty and glory of God’s creation. Truly, it is His amazing power that created this wonder of the world. This was also something the prophet Isaiah recognised in a greater degree as he wrote in his epic book from the Old Testament. He described God in in a very special way.
The Creator of the ends of the world…” Isa. 40:28
He recognised God as the One who created the earth. According to Wikipedia, the surface of the earth is 510.1 million km². There are 5 oceans and 7 seas. There are 14 mountains above 8.000 metres. And everything on the earth and in the earth was created by the Lord God.
“HAVE YOU NOT KNOWN, HAVE YOU NOT HEARD? THE EVERLASTING GOD…”
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.” Isa. 40:28
This was a word given by Isaiah in response to Israel’s doubts about God. They thought that their just claim had been passed over by the Lord (Isa. 41:27). There were doubts because of sin, ignorance, unbelief and a poor relationship with God. The people of Israel had to re-discover the majesty of the Lord God. The prophet Isaiah used rhetorical questions to cause the people to re-think their thoughts about Him. This was their God and Lord. They needed to see the Lord God as their Creator once again. They needed to have a restored relationship with Him. This could bring about a vibrant faith in Him. Young people, let’s also seek to restore our relationship with the Lord God if we have drifted away from Him. Let’s make sure that we have a vibrant relationship with Him.
