God Saved And Called Us

Salvation is more than just going to heaven. It is definitely much more. In his second pastoral epistle, Paul expounded to Timothy what salvation meant for all Christians.

“Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling”
2 Timothy 1:9

Salvation should be seen as a calling from God. It is the Lord who has specially called each one of us out of darkness into His marvellous light. This calling is most holy and sacred. What a great privilege to be saved and called by the Lord!

According To God’s Purpose And Grace

“Not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began”
2 Timothy 1:9

The salvation that we have did not come by chance. It was intricately and lovingly planned by God. Before time began, He had already designed this salvation for us. He would give salvation to the world according to His own purpose and grace. We cannot earn this salvation by works. He planned that we should be specially saved purely by His grace. Isn’t it wonderful that we are saved and called for His purposes!

Life And Immortality Revealed

“But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel”
2 Timothy 1:10

Furthermore, the salvation that we have has been revealed to us through our Saviour. When the Lord Jesus resurrected from the dead, He destroyed the sting of death. He brought to light the wonderful reality of abundant life in Him and immortality in heaven. Today, when we share the gospel, people would be able to discover this spiritual and eternal life. Let’s thank God that this life in Christ has been revealed to us.

Not Ashamed

“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed”
2 Timothy 1:12

When we have a deeper appreciation of our salvation, we will never be ashamed of it. Paul was willing to go through much suffering for the gospel sake’s. He was not ashamed of Christ and of His gospel. The reason was that he had come to appreciate this salvation is a special way. God has specially saved and called us for His purpose. Let’s have the faith and courage to never be ashamed of Him.
