Looking Forward To Youth Conference 2013
The event of the year for all young people at Bethany is once again here. This Sunday, we embark on the important theme “Called”. We have more than 190 conferees coming for this conference, the most number that we have had at any conference. All of us should be really excited about studying the Lord’s calling in our life and His will for us. Many of us may have some understanding about the topic of calling but most of us do not have a fullness of understanding and the ability to piece everything together. We want to go away from the conference with a greater sense calling in life and ministry and to let it drive us to live for the Lord and His will.
The Example Of Paul In Having A Great Sense Of Calling
One person who had a great sense of calling was the apostle Paul.
1. Remembering His Past Life And Endeavours
“For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the Church of God beyond measure”
Galatians 1:13
Paul always recalled what he was saved from. He remembered how he used to severely persecute the Church. He did all he could to put Christians in prison and tried to destroy the church. Paul never forgot the kind of sinful person he was before he was saved.
2. Having A Deep Appreciation For The Grace Of God
“But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace”
Galatians 1:15
Despite his sinfulness, the Lord was still most gracious to Paul by calling him to Himself. In fact, even before he was born into this world, it pleased the Lord through His grace that he would be specially separated to Him. The Lord had already set him apart for His work. How amazing God’s grace is!
3. Having A Deep Sense Of Purpose
“To reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles”
Galatians 1:16
God’s purpose for Paul was to show to the world who the Lord Jesus is in and through his life. He would be focused on preaching Him to the Gentiles. That would be His life’s work. Let’s also have a great sense of purpose in our life in sharing Christ to others.
4. Being Specially Trained By The Lord
“But I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter and remained with him fifteen days.”
Galatians 1:17-18
Paul would have to be trained further before he could be used by the Lord. He went to Arabia for three years to be personally trained by the Lord Jesus. Let’s also seek to be discipled further so that we can learn to serve Him well. Let’s learn much at the Youth Conference and greatly desire to embark on fulfilling our calling in life and ministry.
