GETTING DOWN TO BEARING WITNESS

Stop Procrastinating
We all know that we are supposed to bear witness for the Lord. Yet, in reality, we tend to drag our feet when it comes to actually doing it. One of the reasons why is because we think that there is still time when it comes to soul winning work. The Lord Jesus astutely saw this problem in the people and He had to correct their obvious lack of urgency.
“Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’?”
John 4:35
The people tended to say that there was still time when it came to harvesting the fields. This became a common saying. The Lord Jesus had to stop the people from procrastinating when it came to reaching out. He had to change their perception of time (where spiritual matters were concerned).
Seeing Life And Ministry As Harvest Time
“Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”
John 4:35
The Lord had to help the people see life and ministry as a rich field ready for harvest. At harvest time, if the labourers do not bring in the harvest quickly enough, they could lose much of it. The challenge was for the people to see beyond themselves to the people around them and to reach out to the lost and weary while they could. We too are living in a midst of rich harvest field. Let’s get down to reaching out to people in need now.
Seeking To Have Team Work In Soul Winning
“And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.'”
John 4:36-37
Soul winning work is hard work. All of us need to be involved in “sowing and reaping” work. Some may sow the word of the gospel in peoples’ hearts. Others may actually reap what others have sown. The key thing is team work. We must work together in bringing people to Christ. We will rejoice together when people are truly converted.
Entering Into The Labor Of Others
“I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
John 4:38
When we are able to see the “harvest field”, we must seek to enter into this work. The Lord is sending us to reap what others have laboured. YPG II and III will be having an outreach programme on Saturday, 26th July. Let’s bring our friends for this special programme. Let’s get down to laboring with others in soul winning work.
