The Determination Of The Psalmist To Always Praise God

This Saturday, we will be having our yearly Chinese New Year Special in church. It will not just be a time of celebrating the Lunar New Year. It will also be a time of worshipping and praising God. Let’s seize every opportunity we have to give glory to God for His goodness. David determined in his heart to praise the Lord at all times.

“I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord”
Psalm 34:1-2

The Psalmist had this deep sense of commitment to praise God consistently. He was determined to give soul-felt praise to Him. Young people, let’s also determine always to offer great praise to the Lord from the heart

The Reasons To Praise God Always

What were the Psalmist’s reasons to offer praise to God always?

1. Personal Experience Of Deliverance From All Fears

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 34:4

The Psalmist praised God because he had experienced the Lord’s hand of goodness in his life. The Lord had delivered him from all the fears and troubles that plagued him. He had experienced the Lord’s hand of deliverance in his life.

2. Encouraging The Hearts Of Others

“The humble shall hear of it and be glad.”
Psalm 34:2

The Psalmist knew that when he praised God, those who were humble will hear. They would be encouraged and be glad through what they hear. Let’s also seek to praise God and speak of His goodness that others may find encouragement through what they hear.

Inviting Others To Praise God Too

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt his name together.”
Psalm 34:3

The Psalmist sent out an invitation to others to magnify the Lord with him. This was a call for others to praise God too. Let’s also invite our family members and friends for this Chinese New Year Special. Let’s invite them to come and listen to people speak of the goodness of the Lord in their lives. May they be able to magnify the Lord with us as they hear of His goodness.
