IN MEMORY OF SI QIU

An Outstanding Young Man
One life… one short and transient life… that is what each one of us has been given. We either make full use of it or we waste it in useless and meaningless pursuits. Si Qiu chose the former. After he knew the Lord, he determined to live his life to the fullest. Despite returning home to be with the Lord at a young age, he had lived an outstanding life. How many young adults can say that they have done that? Si Qiu was a highly respected army officer. He was a Christian who sought to practise his faith. When we look at his life, we cannot help but see an outstanding young man.
A Changed Life
What was very significant about Si Qiu’s life was how God changed him. The change was just so overwhelmingly evidential. He changed from an unfocused person to one that was very focused and disciplined. He changed from a person who rarely smiled to one who smiled most of the time. He changed from one who was stubborn to one who was humble and willing to learn and grow. His changed life bears testimony of the power of God working in his life, transforming him from glory to glory. What an outstanding testimony!
A Life Committed To God
Another outstanding thing about Si Qiu was his sense of commitment towards God. It was obvious that Si Qiu loved the Lord. He would do whatever he could for the Lord. Whether it was cleaning up after Church services or preparing his chairing for Bilingual, he put his heart and soul into what he was doing. Mrs Ho mentioned how Si Qiu would wake up every morning and not fail to read the Scriptures. He even considered the ideal of serving God full time one day. He was truly committed to God and to His service.
A Short Life… Live It Well
Young people, we have a short and transient life. How are we living it? I am reminded of what Paul wrote to the Colossians.
“That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God”
Colossians 1:10
Our challenge is to have a lifestyle that is truly worthy of the Lord. Let’s seek to put worth into our Christian life. Let’s be inspired to follow the example of Si Qiu in how he lived his life well. We need to grow in our knowledge of God further. We need to be more committed in doing good works. Let’s seek to change and do what we can for God while we still can. Let’s seek to bear much fruits one day. Let’s learn to live lives that would be pleasing to God. Life is short. Let’s live it well.
