BLESSING GOD FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS
The Church is richly blessed. This is something that we should be blessing the Lord for. The apostle Paul’s heart was filled with much appreciation and joy as he thought about the spiritual blessings that have been bestowed on the Church.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ …”
Ephesians 1:3
The Lord God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing that we need in this life and the next. It is through the Lord Jesus that we have these blessings. Our hearts should also be filled with gratitude and thanksgiving as we bless our heavenly Father
BEING CHOSEN BY GOD ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE
“… Just as He chose us in Him before the foundations of the world …”
Ephesians 1:4
1. THE PREROGATIVE OF GOD IN CHOOSING US
It is indeed humbling to know that the Lord chose us before the world was created. He already knew from the beginning whom He would choose. It is His prerogative to do so. It is not because of our own merit that we are chosen.
2. THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING CHOSEN
The Lord God specially chose each one of us. It is indeed nothing less than His mercies and grace that we are chosen. This is indeed a great privilege to be deeply appreciated.
3. THE PURPOSE OF BEING CHOSEN
Why did God choose us? For what purpose did He choose us? This is something that has to be revealed to us. We have to seek the Lord to discover His will and purpose for our life.
GOALS FOR OUR LIFE
“… That we should be holy and without blame …”
Ephesians 1:4
The purpose for our life must be matched with the goals that the Lord had given to us.
1. TO BE HOLY
This is with reference to what we are inside us. We are meant to be holy just as God is holy. There should come a sense of devotion to God and a desire to seek to be pure in His sight.
2. TO BE BLAMELESS
This is with reference to what we do and say. Before men, we should always be good and blameless in all that we do. There should not be any cause for blameworthiness.
DRIVE TO FULFIL GOALS
1. CONSCIOUSNESS OF GOD
“… Before Him …”
Ephesians 1:4
Being conscious of a living God whom we are to be accountable to should drive us to live well. There should be a deep consciousness of the Lord throughout the day
2. CONSTRAINED BY LOVE
“… In love”
Ephesians 1:4
It is the love of the Lord that should cause us to do our best in being righteous. The Lord’s love has been richly given to us. Love should drive us to keep His word and to live well for Him in life and ministry. Young people, let’s be driven to live and serve well by being conscious of the presence of God and by deeply appreciating His love for us.
