A Time Of Seeking The Lord
Youth conference 2010 is just around the corner. How are you preparing your heart for it? Conference week should see us seeking the Lord with a greater sense of anticipation. This was how the Psalmist sought the Lord in the text of Psalm 63.
“O God, You are my God.
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.”
Psalm 63:1
David was at this point of time in the wilderness, running and hiding from his enemies. He compared his physical thirst in the wilderness to the spiritual thirst that he felt in his own soul. He sought the Lord early in the morning and longed for Him with tremendous anticipation. Let’s also seek the Lord at this Youth Conference in the same manner.
A Time Of Seeking And Discovering The Lord
“So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.”
Psalm 63:2
David also sought the Lord with a definite sense of purpose. Although David was in the wilderness, he could picture himself in the Lord’s sanctuary, seeking for Him. He sought the Lord to behold His power and His glory. He wanted to discover more about the Lord. In the text of Psalm 63, David saw how God had been his help. It was the Lord who upheld him. He discovered how powerful and glorious the Lord is. May we also seek to discover more about the power of God and His glory.
A Time Of Deepening Our Appreciation Of God’s Love
“Because Your lovingkindness is better than life”
Psalm 63:3
As David sought the Lord, he was able to have a deeper appreciation of the lovingkindness of God. He sang of how God’s lovingkindness is far greater than life itself. This year’s conference theme is on “the love of God”. As we study about His love, may we appreciate His lovingkindness in a deeper way. May we also be able to acknowledge that it is truly better than the worth of our own life.
A Time Of Giving Joyful Praise To God
“Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.”
Psalm 63:4
As David discovered the deeper things of God and His lovingkindness, there came joyful praise from his heart. He determined to bless the Lord always. He would lift up his hands to God in His name. Young people, let’s look forward to a great conference where we would seek the Lord wholeheartedly. As we appreciate God’s love in a fresh way, may we offer Him joyful praise and glory as long as we live.
