Reviewing Lessons of Having Faith in the Lord Jesus

TAKING TIME TO REVIEW

It is good for us to take time to review what we have been learning from the book of John. The challenge that we have been considering is whether we have genuine faith in the Lord Jesus. The apostle John wrote his gospel with the intention that people may come to know the Lord Jesus, to believe in Him and to experience eternal life in His name. As we understand further about the Lord Jesus, let’s check whether we have true faith in Him. Some questions for you to consider.

1. ARE YOU BORN AGAIN?

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:5

“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
John 1:12-13

a. The only entrance into the kingdom of God is to be born again.

b. Being born again means to be born again spiritually and starting life anew by receiving Christ and believing in His name.

c. It also has the idea of being born from above and it is something that comes from the depths of the Lord’s love and grace.

d. We can be regenerated by the Spirit of God and there comes tremendous life to our souls.

e. Being born again is a spiritual and special experience.

f. Young people, are you sure of being born again? Have you experienced spiritual regeneration?

2. DO YOU HAVE THE GIFT OF LIVING WATER?

“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.”
John 4:13

Another way that the Lord Jesus presented the gospel was through the offer of the gift of living water.

a. The Lord Jesus is the source of living water.

b. He is the giver of living water.

c. We are meant to drink of this spiritual water.

d. The word “drink” is a reference to the idea of “receiving” and “believing” in the Lord Jesus.

e. When we drink of the water that the Lord Jesus gives, it will quench our spiritual thirst.

f. When we believe in the Lord Jesus, He will fully satisfy our deepest spiritual needs.

g. Young people, have you started drinking from the spiritual waters that the Lord gives?

IMPORTANT THINGS TO CHECK

1. Check our knowledge of the Lord Jesus.

2. Check our regard for the Lord Jesus.

3. Check how precious the Lord Jesus is to us.

4. Check our personal faith in the Lord Jesus.
