Text: Isaiah 49:1
“THE LORD GOD HAS GIVEN ME THE TONGUE OF THE LEARNED”
(I) PREPARATION IN THE WORD OF GOD
1. Time of learning
“He awakens Me morning by morning,” Isaiah 50:4
2. Place of learning
3. Communing with the Father in order to learn
a) Awaken the ear to listen
“He awakens My ear to hear as the learned.” Isaiah 50:4
b) Open the ear to learn
“The Lord God has opened My ear;” Isaiah 50:5
4. Attitude of learning
“And I was not rebellious, nor did I turn away.” Isaiah 50:5
a) No rebellion
b) No turning away
(II) A PERSON OF THE WORD OF GOD
1. To be learned in the word
“The Lord God has given Me the tongue of the learned,” Isaiah 50:4
2. Understanding the task of speaking the word
“That I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.” Isaiah 50:4
(III) THE PRACTICE OF THE WORD OF GOD
1. Fulfilment of the word
“Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God.’ ” Hebrews 10:7
2. Courage to do whatever it takes
“I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.” Isaiah 50:6
“Therefore I have set My face like a flint,” Isaiah 50:7
3. Faith in God
“For the Lord God will help Me” Isaiah 50:7
