THE ENCOURAGEMENT TO WALK WORTHY OF OUR CALLING

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called…”   Ephesians 4:1

1. Appreciating the Lord’s special blessings   (Ephesians 1, 2)

a. The Lord has specially blessed us.

b. He has given us salvation in Christ

c. He has forgiven us of our sins

d. He has given us a deep sense of hope

e. He has made us part of the family of God

2. This calling is worthwhile following

a. There is tremendous worth in following this calling

b. It is worthy of consideration

c. This is indeed a worthy cause

d. It is worth our while to be one in the Church

THE WAY TO WALKING WORTHY

1. Internal aspects

“With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering,…”   Ephesians 4:2

a. With all lowliness

b. With all gentleness

c. With longsuffering

2. The external aspects

“Bearing with one another in love, endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”   Ephesians 4:2-3

a. Walk in love

b. Walk in peace

INSPIRATION TO WALK WORTHY

1. Divine oneness   (Ephesians 4:4-5)

a. One Spirit

b. One Lord

c. One God and Father of all

2. One body   (Ephesians 4:4-5)

a. One hope

b. One faith

c. One baptism

PRACTICAL STEPS

1. Consider the worth of following this calling

2. Seek to walk in a worthy manner

3. Seek to have this sense of oneness
