(II) DAVID’S JOURNEY IN DISCOVERING GOD’S TENDER MERCIES
1. Foundational understanding of God’s mercies
“The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgressions and sin.” Ex 34:5-7
2. Application of understanding of God’s tender mercies in life’s realities
a. With reference to not remembering the sins of one’s youth
“Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindness, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions” Psalm 25:6
b. With reference to preservation of life
“Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O LORD; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.” Psalm 40:11
c. With reference to the forgiveness of sin.
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.” (Psalm 51:1)
d. With reference to stressful situations
“O God, in the multitude of Your mercy…deliver me out of the mire…” Psalm 69:13

1. According to God’s timing

(IV) RESPONDING CORRECTLY TO THE MULTITUDE OF GOD’S TENDER MERCIES
1. Pleading the mercies of God
a. For deliverance
“O God, in the multitude of Your mercy…deliver me out of the mire…” Psalm 69:13
b. For God’s presence
“Turn to me according to the multitude of your tender mercies…” Psalm 69:16
2. Learning to wait patiently on the Lord
“While I wait for my God.” Psalm 69:3
3. Seeking to be poor and humble in spirit.
“But I am poor and sorrowful” Psalm 69:29
“The humble shall see this and be glad” Psalm 69:32
4. Determining to praise God’s name
