THE PROMISE OF GOD’S PRESENCE IN OUR LIVES

1. God has promised His Presence

a. That He will be with us
b. That He will bless us
“I will bless you…”   Genesis 12:1-3

2. The reality of His Presence

a. Through His Protection   (Genesis 12)
b. Through His Provision   (Genesis 12, 13)
c. Through His Power   (Genesis 14)

3. The problem of uncertainty

a. Even with the promise of His Presence
b. Fear can arise through the problems of life
c. We can end up being uncertain of His Presence
“Do not be afraid…”   Genesis 15:1
“LORD GOD, how shall I know…”   Genesis 15:8

THE CERTAINTY OF GOD’S PRESENCE THROUGH HIS COVENANT

1. The need to be certain of the Presence of God

a. There ought to be certainty of God’s Presence in our lives
b. Certainty of the Presence of God brings about strength and hope in God
c. God sought to help Abraham find certainty of His Presence
“Know certainly…”   Genesis 15:13

2. Certainty of the Presence of God confirmed through His Covenant

a. The Covenant made the promise of God’s Presence definite and concrete
b. It confirmed God’s Presence in Abraham’s life
c. This was a Covenant that was most wonderfully made with Abraham
“The LORD made a covenant with Abram…”   Genesis 15:18

3. Finding certainty of the Presence of God

a. From the promise of His Presence
b. From the confirmation of His Presence through His Covenant
c. God seeks to relate to us in a most personal and assuring way!
“I will make My covenant between Me and you…”   Genesis 17:2

APPRECIATING THE PRESENCE OF GOD IN OUR LIVES

1. To appreciate the Presence of God

a. With joy
b. With thanksgiving

2. To believe strongly

a. In the Presence of God
b. No matter what challenges we go through
“And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness”   Genesis 15:6

3. To exercise our faith

a. To trust in Him
b. To relate in prayer
